Nagasaki
Nagasaki got its first streetcar line in 1915, when the Nagasaki Electric Tramway opened between Byoinshita and Tsukimachi. The network reached its current size with a final extension in 1960, and it still charges a single flat fare on every route. The atomic bombing on August 9, 1945 stopped every line, destroying 16 cars and killing 120 employees, and in September 2022 the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen opened, cutting the trip from Hakata to Nagasaki from about two hours to about 90 minutes.
