Vancouver got its driverless rail system in January 1986, when the SkyTrain Expo Line opened ahead of Expo 86 that year. The network has since grown to three SkyTrain lines, and since 1995 the West Coast Express commuter train has served the Fraser Valley. In August 2009 the Canada Line opened between downtown and Vancouver International Airport, in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics, and in December 2016 the Evergreen Extension reached Coquitlam. SkyTrain now has 54 stations and about 50 miles of track.
