Honolulu got its first rail line in June 2023, when the first segment of Skyline opened. The fully driverless elevated line started with 9 stations, running from East Kapolei on the west side of Oahu to Hālawa near Aloha Stadium. In October 2025 the second segment extended the line to Kahauiki at Middle Street. Its 4 new stations include one at Honolulu International Airport, bringing the line to 13 stations and about 16 miles. A third segment through downtown is scheduled to open in 2031.
