Dallas
Dallas got its modern rail system in June 1996, when DART light rail opened, and at the end of that year the Trinity Railway Express began commuter service toward Fort Worth. In the thirty years since, DART has grown into a light rail network fanning out from downtown in every direction. The Orange Line reached DFW Airport in August 2014, and in October 2025 the Silver Line commuter rail opened, running from the airport northeast to Plano without passing through downtown. Uptown also has the free M-Line Trolley, which runs restored vintage streetcars.
