Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung got its first metro line in 2008, when the Red Line opened in March, followed by the Orange Line that September. Where the two lines cross, Formosa Boulevard station holds the Dome of Light, made of 4,500 glass panels and often described as the largest glass artwork in the world. In the years since, the network has grown beyond those two crossing lines. The Circular Light Rail began service in 2015, its trams powered by supercapacitors with no overhead wires, and the loop was completed on New Year's Day 2024. That June the Red Line reached Gangshan station, connecting with the TRA station there.
