Dublin

Dublin got its first rapid urban rail line in 1984, when the electrified DART began running along the coast from Howth to Bray. The city still has no metro, and the Luas tram, whose Green and Red lines opened in 2004, became the other backbone of rail in the city. At first the two lines did not connect, and riders had to walk about a kilometer through the center to change between them. Luas Cross City, opened in 2017, carried the Green Line north through the center and linked it with the Red Line, and the planned MetroLink received approval to be built in 2025.
